Abigail’s First Club: Activities

Shared Reading · Ages 5–8. An adult reads the questions and clues aloud. Children can talk, point, sign or choose an answer. For Jumbled Words, show the matching vocabulary word and build it together; children do not need to read independently.

Vocabulary

Read these five words from the story. Talk about what they mean.

materials: Things used to make something.
welcomes: Shows someone they may come and belong.
broad: Wide rather than narrow.
test: Try something to find out how it works.
familiar: Known from having seen or experienced it before.
