Beatrice’s Kite Tail
School Readers · Level 6
Beatrice and Mabel take a blue kite to the park. Dad helps them find an open space.

The kite rises, then twists in the wind. Beatrice lowers it onto the grass.

Mabel looks at the tail. One of its cloth bows has come loose.

Dad holds the kite while the girls check the bows. They tie the loose bow on again.

Beatrice holds the line, and Mabel lifts the kite. They wait for another gust of wind.

The kite rises above the grass once more. This time its tail hangs straight behind it.

Mabel takes a turn with the line. Beatrice stands beside her and watches.

The girls bring the kite down before they leave. They pack it carefully for another windy day.
