Ben’s Bridge Game
Shared Reading Books · Social Stories · Ages 3–4
Ben sees Ada making a bridge. A little car waits beside it. Ben wants to play too. He stands near the blocks and watches.

He reaches for the car. Ada holds it close. “I am using this one,” she says. Ben stops. He is not sure what to do next.

Mr Hill sits nearby. “You can ask about the game,” he says. Ben asks, “Can my car go over?” Ada looks at the empty space beside her.

“We need a road,” Ada says. Ben can make a road or watch a little longer. He chooses some flat blocks and starts beside the bridge.

One block leaves a gap. Ada brings another. Together they make a path to the bridge. Ben puts his own car at the beginning.

“Here comes my car,” Ben says. Ada makes room on the bridge. Ben feels glad. Asking helped him find a place in the game.
