Ben’s Floating Boat

Ben looks at a little wooden boat. “Will it stay up?” he asks Dad.
Dad sets the boat on the water. It floats in the shallow tray.
Ben gives the boat a gentle push. Across it goes!
Dad holds a big stone. “What will this do?” Ben looks and thinks.
Dad lowers the stone into the tray. Down it goes. It sinks.
The stone is at the bottom. The boat is still on top. Ben points to both.
“This boat floats. This stone sinks!” says Ben. They look again together.
Dad lifts out the stone. Ben gives his boat one more push. “Sail on, little boat!”
