Ben’s Little Ramp
Shared Reading Books · Technology · Ages 3–4
Ben has made a garage from a box. His red car is on the mat. “You can park on top,” says Ben.

Ben puts a piece of card against the box. He holds the car at the bottom. “Up you go!” But the card bends.

The car slips onto the mat. Ben looks at the bent card. “That is too floppy,” he says. Mum sits beside him.

Mum brings a wide wooden board from the toy shelf. Ben feels it. “This one is stiff.” They lay it against the box.

The board makes a very steep ramp. Ben pushes the car. It rolls back down. “It is hard to get up,” he says.

They move the bottom of the board farther out. Now the ramp is less steep. Mum holds it steady while Ben tries again.

Ben pushes slowly. The car rolls up the board onto the garage roof. “It got there!” he says. He brings it down again.

Ben sends the car up once more. The board stays in place. “My car has a road now,” he says. His car rests in its high parking place.
