Ben’s Teddy Hideout
Shared Reading Books · Numeracy · Ages 3–4
Ben wants to play hide-and-find with Mum. His little teddy is ready too. “Where shall Teddy go?” asks Mum. Ben looks around the room.

First Teddy sits on the table. Ben points up at him. “On the table,” says Mum. Ben reaches gently and brings Teddy down.

Next Teddy goes under the table. Ben crouches to look. The tabletop is above Teddy. “Under!” says Ben. He can see Teddy’s little feet.

Ben puts Teddy in the open box. Teddy is inside, with the box around him. “In the box,” says Mum. Ben peeps over the edge.

Now Mum puts Teddy behind the box. Ben cannot see all of him from the front. He walks around carefully. “There you are!”

Ben puts Teddy next to the box. Teddy is beside it, not inside it. Ben can see all of Teddy now. Mum points to the space between them.

Mum has one more turn. Teddy goes under the table again. “Where is he?” she asks. Ben looks below the tabletop and points.

Ben finds Teddy and gives him a hug. “On, under, in and behind,” says Mum. “And next to!” says Ben. They have found lots of places for one little friend.
