Cedric’s Lost Lens Cap
School Readers · Level 6
Cedric wants a close photo of a fern. May holds a leaf still while he lifts his camera.

He takes off the round black lens cap. He sets it on the stone bench beside his bag.

A sudden breeze lifts May’s loose paper. She catches it before it blows into the flower bed.

Cedric reaches for the cap, but the bench is empty. “It was right here,” he says.

They look beside the bag first. The cap is not under it or inside the open pocket.

May looks down at the short grass. A round black edge lies just below the bench.

Cedric picks up the cap and checks it with Ms Birch. There is no mud on the smooth inside.

He puts the cap into his bag’s small pocket. Now he knows where it will be after the next photo.
