Daisy’s Toy Parade
Shared Reading Books · Numeracy · Ages 3–4
Daisy wants a parade for her little toys. Oliver brings a path mat. A dog, a duck and a rabbit are waiting. “Who will go first?” he asks.

“Dog first,” says Daisy. She puts the wooden dog at the front of the path. The duck and rabbit wait while she makes room behind it.

Duck comes next. Daisy puts the duck behind Dog. “First Dog, then Duck,” she says. Oliver points along the little line with her.

Rabbit joins at the end. Now all three toys are ready. Dog is first, Duck is in the middle, and Rabbit is last.

“Who is first?” asks Oliver. Daisy points to Dog at the front. “Dog leads our parade.” The other toys will follow along the path.

“Who is between Dog and Rabbit?” Oliver asks. Daisy looks at the middle toy. “Duck!” she says. Duck has a friend on each side.

Daisy points to Rabbit. “Rabbit is last.” She keeps the toys in their order. Rabbit can join the fun at the back of the parade.

Off goes the little parade. Dog first, Duck next, Rabbit last. Daisy and Oliver move them slowly together. “Everyone has a place,” says Daisy. “Let’s go again!”
