Dorothy’s Potato Print
School Readers · Level 6
Dorothy and Sylvia make prints at the art table. Their teacher has cut shapes in potatoes.

Dorothy dips a star shape into yellow paint. She presses it onto her paper.

When she lifts it, the star looks like a blob. There is too much paint on the potato.

Sylvia shows her a spare piece of paper. “Try a print here first,” she says.

Dorothy presses the potato on the spare paper. Some of the extra paint comes off.

She tries again on her picture. Now she can see the points of the star.

Sylvia makes a picture with blue circles. The girls let their prints dry on a rack.

Later, they show their prints beside the art table. Dorothy wants to try a leaf shape next.
