Edith’s Lantern
School Readers · Level 5
Edith and Hector make a paper lantern. Grandma helps them at the garden table.

Edith folds the red paper into a lantern. Hector makes a handle from blue paper.

He sticks both ends of the handle on. One end comes away.

Edith sees that the paper is still wet with glue. They need to wait for it to dry.

Grandma puts a small clip on each end. The clips hold the handle in place.

The children play while the glue dries. Then Grandma takes the clips away.

Edith lifts the lantern by its handle. The handle stays on this time.

Grandma switches on the little battery light. They carry the lantern to their garden picnic.
