Emily’s Old Shoes
Shared Reading Books · Social Science · Ages 3–4
Emily finds two tiny shoes. “Are these for a doll?” she asks.

“They were yours,” says Mum. Emily looks at her feet. “My feet are bigger now!”

Mum opens an old photo book. There is baby Emily. She is wearing the tiny shoes.

“I could not walk then,” says Emily. “Mum held me.” She looks at the picture again.

“Then you learned,” says Mum. Here is a picture of little Emily. She is taking a step.

Emily puts on her shoes today. She does one strap herself. “Look what I can do!”

She puts the tiny shoes by her big ones. “Little then. Bigger now.” Mum nods.

They keep the little shoes in a box. Emily closes the photo book. “I am still growing!”
