George’s School Map
Shared Reading Books · Social Science · Year 1
George has a job today. He will take a book to the school library with Mrs Reed. But which path should they follow? “Let us use our map,” she says.

George finds their classroom on the map. He finds a picture of the library too. “The library is past the garden,” he says, tracing the path with one finger.

They walk beside the garden. George spots the tall sunflower pots. “Here is our first landmark!” he says. Mrs Reed asks, “What should we look for next?”

George sees the big hall ahead. The map shows a little path beside it. “We turn here,” he says. They stay together and follow the path.

Soon they reach a door with books in the window. “The library!” says George. He hands the book to Mrs Reed at the returns desk and explains how they found the way.

On the way back, George looks at the map again. “The same places are still here, but we pass them in a different order,” he notices.

Back in class, George draws a sunflower beside the garden on their map. “That picture will help the next person,” he says. Mrs Reed adds his drawing.

Later, a friend asks where the library is. George shows the route on the map. “Past the garden, then beside the hall. I can show you with our teacher.”
