Georgina’s Picnic Guest

Georgina and Marjorie have a picnic with Mum. They sit at a table beside a tall tree.

Mum opens the food box and hands out sandwiches. Georgina hears a rustle on the tree trunk.

A little squirrel comes down towards the table. It stops on a branch and looks at their food.

“We have a guest,” whispers Marjorie. Georgina wants to get closer, but Mum asks her to wait.

Mum checks the food box is closed, then moves it beside her. They stay at the table and give the squirrel space.

The squirrel runs back up the trunk. It picks something from the tree and holds it in its paws.

The girls watch quietly while they finish their sandwiches. Their guest has found its own lunch.

When the picnic ends, they put all their rubbish in a bag. Georgina looks up and waves to the squirrel.
