Harold’s Scoreboard
School Readers · Level 7
Harold and Sylvia keep score at a table tennis game. They sit behind a small board beside the court.

Harold flips a card after each point. From the far end, a player cannot see which side has scored.

Sylvia walks around to check the view. A tall water bottle stands in front of one half of the board.

She moves the bottle under their table. Now the whole board is clear, but it still faces the wrong way.

Harold turns the board towards the court. Sylvia checks again from the place where the player was standing.

This time, she can see both sets of cards. She raises her hand to show that the view is clear.

They wait until the next game begins. Harold flips the cards slowly while Sylvia watches each point.

The players can check the score between points. Harold and Sylvia keep the space in front of the board clear.
