Harvey’s Toy Tugboat
School Readers · Level 7
Harvey takes his toy tugboat to the park pond. Terence and Dad come with him.

Dad ties a long string to the yellow boat. Harvey holds the other end on the dry bank.

A breeze pushes the boat towards some reeds. When Harvey pulls the string, the boat will not move.

“The string is caught,” says Terence. He points to a twig near the bank.

Dad lifts the string off the twig with a stick. The boys wait beside him on the path.

Harvey pulls gently, and the boat comes back. He checks that the string can move freely.

This time he sends the boat into clear water. Terence takes a turn at guiding it.

They bring the tugboat back before they go home. Harvey winds up the string, ready for their next game.
