Jack’s Little Space
Shared Reading Books · Social Stories · Ages 3–4
Jack rolls play dough at the table. Emma brings a chair beside him. She wants to see his little snail. Her chair bumps his elbow.

Jack pulls his arm close. He wants more space. “Move,” he says. Emma stops her chair. Mr Moss comes over to see what they need.

“Your elbow needs room,” Mr Moss says. Jack nods. Emma can sit a little farther along the table. There is another clear place beside the dough.

Emma moves her chair. Jack stretches his arm gently. It has room now. “Here is my snail,” he says. Emma looks without leaning across him.

Jack offers a small piece of dough. Emma makes a leaf beside her own board. They can play near each other without using the same space.

Jack feels comfortable. His snail sits beside Emma’s leaf. If he needs room again, he can tell or show someone. The adults can help them find enough space.
