Kenneth’s Model Car
School Readers · Level 7
Kenneth and Vera test a small wooden car in class. Kenneth gives it a gentle push along the smooth table.

The car rolls forward, then turns sharply to one side. It stops against Vera’s hand near the table edge.

They look at the four wheels. All can turn, but a bent paper flag hangs down beside one back wheel.

Vera holds the car still while Kenneth lifts the flag. The paper has been rubbing against the moving wheel.

Their teacher helps them fold the flag up and fix it higher. Now there is space between the paper and wheel.

Kenneth sets the car on a flat wooden board. He gives it another gentle push while Vera watches the wheels.

The car rolls straight along the board. Vera catches it at the end and checks that the flag is still clear.

“The wheel needed room to turn,” says Kenneth. They add a drawing of the raised flag to their model notes.
