Malcolm’s Garden Cart

Malcolm and Archie help Grandad in the garden. They put small plant pots into a red cart.

They want to take the pots to a sunny bed. Malcolm tries to pull the cart along the path.

The cart is heavy, and one wheel sinks into soft soil. Malcolm stops pulling and looks at the wheel.

Archie suggests taking some pots out first. Grandad finds a flat board for the soft patch.

The boys move two pots onto the path. Grandad lays the board in front of the wheel.

Now Malcolm can pull the lighter cart over the board. Archie walks beside him and watches the pots.

They leave the first pots by the sunny bed. Then they go back for the other two.

Grandad helps them plant all four seedlings. Two small trips have worked better than one heavy trip.
