Neville’s Wet Skate Ramp
School Readers · Level 6
Neville and Pearl arrive at skate club. They carry their boards towards the low practice ramp.

A thin puddle shines across the wood. Neville stops at the bottom and points to the wet patch.

“That looks slippery,” says Pearl. They keep their boards on the ground and call Ms Lane over.

Ms Lane checks the ramp before anyone uses it. She puts a cone beside the puddle.

The friends watch from the flat path. Ms Lane wipes the water away with a wide floor mop.

A dark damp patch still marks the wood. The cone stays in place while the surface dries.

Later, Ms Lane checks the dry ramp again. She moves the cone and explains the first practice.

Neville and Pearl are ready to begin. Waiting has given them a dry space for their lesson.
