Oscar’s Playground Plan
Shared Reading Books · Social Science · Ages 3–4
Oscar wants to build a road. Ella wants to build a house. They both reach for the blocks.

“I need these,” says Oscar. “So do I,” says Ella. The blocks stay in a heap.

Mrs Green sits beside them. “Tell me about your plans.” They show her with their hands.

“My road could go to your house,” says Oscar. Ella thinks. “We could build together!”

They sort the blocks. Long blocks for the road. Short blocks for the house.

Oscar makes a wide road. Ella builds beside it. “Here is a door!” she says.

They roll a toy bus along the road. It stops by the house. “There is room for both ideas.”

When play is over, they put the blocks away. “Tomorrow we can build again,” says Oscar.
