Patricia’s Bubble Game
School Readers · Level 10
Patricia and Linda set up a bubble game in the garden with Dad. They put a wide blue bowl of mixture on the outdoor table. They take turns with a green wand.

Patricia dips the round wand into the bowl and blows gently. A tiny bubble appears, but it breaks before it can float across the grass.

Linda tries next, and the same thing happens again. They look at the wand’s circle as they dip it. Only half goes below the mixture.

“Could we cover the whole circle?” asks Patricia. She shows Dad the shallow bowl. He adds a little more mixture. The girls hold the bowl steady on the table.

Linda lowers the wand until the entire circle is covered. Then she lifts it slowly. A clear film stretches across the opening. Soft colours shine across it in the sunlight.

Linda blows gently, and a big bubble floats towards Patricia. Patricia watches it drift above the flowers. Then it pops, leaving both girls smiling.

They take turns dipping the wand fully and trying different gentle breaths. Some bubbles are small and some are large, but now they float away from the table.

After the game, Dad helps pour the leftover mixture into its bottle. Patricia puts the wand away. Noticing one small detail helped everyone enjoy the bubbles.
