Poppy’s Morning Wave
Shared Reading Books · Social Stories · Ages 3–4
Poppy comes to preschool with Mum. She hangs her coat on a low peg. Mum will leave soon. Poppy holds her hand a little longer.

“I want you to stay,” Poppy says. Her tummy feels wobbly. Ms Green comes near. She waits while Poppy and Mum have a quiet moment.

Mum tells Poppy the plan. “I will come back after lunch.” They can have a hug, a wave or a little goodbye. Poppy chooses a wave.

Ms Green stays beside Poppy at the door. Mum waves back, then leaves. Poppy feels sad. She can tell Ms Green or sit close for a while.

After a rest, Poppy sees the toy kitchen. “Can you come with me?” she asks. Ms Green walks over with her. They put two cups on the table.

Poppy pours pretend tea. She still thinks of Mum, and she is ready to play. After lunch, Mum comes back. Poppy has a morning story to tell.
