The Beach Clean-Up
School Readers · Level 10
Megan, Ryan and Sophie join a beach clean-up. They put on gloves and take bags. “There is a bottle by that rock,” says Ryan. Megan picks it up.

Sophie finds a crisp packet in the sand. Ryan finds a plastic cup. They put the litter in Megan’s bag. “This bag is getting full,” says Megan.

A light wind blows across the beach. Ryan’s empty bag flies from his hand. It lands beside a rock. “Now my bag is litter too!” he says.

Sophie reaches the bag before it blows away again. “Got it!” she says. Ryan thanks her. He folds the top and holds it tight.

The friends take the full bags to the collection point. They put bottles in one bin. The other litter goes in another. Megan looks back at the sand.

“It looks better now,” she says. Ryan pats his bag. “And this stayed with me,” he says. The friends smile and walk along the clean beach.
