The Beach Team

Lee and Jean play on the beach. They dig a stream in the sand. It leads to a deep pool. Mum sits near their game.

Lee pours water into the stream. It seeps through a gap in the side. The pool stays empty. “Our stream leaks,” says Jean.

Jean heaps dry sand over the gap. Lee pours more water. The dry sand slips away. “We need a stronger side,” says Lee.

“Try some damp sand,” says Mum. Lee and Jean kneel by the stream. They press the damp sand into the gap. They smooth it with a flat shell.

Lee pours the water slowly. It flows along the stream to the pool. “I can see it reach the end!” says Jean. “We make a good team,” says Lee.
