The Box for the Books
School Readers · Level 5
Elliot and Sarah have books to move. They find a big box.

Elliot puts some books in the box. Sarah holds the sides.

They lift the box a little. The bottom begins to tear.

“Put it down,” says Sarah. They set it on the desk.

The box is not strong enough. They take the books out.

Elliot finds two smaller boxes. “These look strong,” he says.

They put a few books in each box. Now both boxes feel light.

Sarah lifts one box. Elliot lifts the other one.

They carry the books to the shelf. The bottoms do not tear.

The books are safe in their new place. Two small loads were better than one big load.
