The Forest Den
Phase 5 · Book 2Focus -ing and doubled consonants

Tom and Lily are building a den. They are camping with Dad. They want a shady place for a game.

Tom is pulling a cloth over a low branch. Lily is holding the other end. The cloth keeps slipping off!

“We need something to hold it,” says Lily. Dad brings some big pegs. Tom tries clipping one onto the cloth.

Lily is fitting a peg at each end. Tom stops pulling. Now the cloth stays on the branch. Their den has a roof!

Tom and Lily are sitting in the den. They hear birds singing. Dad peeps in. “Is there room for me?”
