The Missing Farm Map

Mark and Rose have a farm map. Gran has planned a treasure game. “Start by the cart,” she says. They spread the map on a low bench.

A little goat trots past the cart. It grabs a corner of the map! “Stop!” calls Mark. The goat drops the torn piece by the gate.

Gran shuts the gate. Rose picks up the torn piece. It is too muddy to read. “How can we find the treasure now?” asks Mark.

“Let’s look at what we still have,” says Rose. The map shows a cart, then a fork in the path. They walk to the fork with Gran. A red scarf hangs on the right-hand post.

Rose spots a matching scarf by the barn door. “Gran has marked the way!” she says. They follow the scarves into the barn. A basket of corn muffins is under a box.

They sit by the cart and share the muffins. Gran gives the goat some hay in its pen. “The goat wanted to play too,” says Mark. “Next time, it can have a hay map!” says Rose.
