The Rainy Play Day

May and Ben play in the garden. They make a trail with flat stones. “Stay on the trail!” says May. Ben steps over a tiny gap.

Rain falls on the trail. The stones get wet. “Wait! They may be slippery,” says Dad. They leave the stones and go under the porch.

“Can we still play?” asks Ben. May looks at a tray of toy animals. “Let’s make a new trail here,” she says. Dad brings a long sheet of paper.

They lay the paper on the porch floor. May draws a trail with a crayon. Ben puts the animals by the trail. Dad brings a toy train to join the game.

The train stops by a painted pond. The animals wait for their ride. Outside, the rain falls softly. “We found a way to play!” says May.
