The Soup for the Stall
School Readers · Level 5
Toby and Leah help at the soup stall. The cook has warm soup.

Toby puts cups on the tray. Leah takes the ladle.

Leah fills one cup. A little soup drips onto the tray.

“The tray is wet,” says Toby. “We can wipe it.”

Leah puts the ladle down. Toby wipes the tray with a cloth.

They put the cups farther apart. Now Leah has more room.

Leah fills the next cup slowly. This time, no soup drips.

The cook smiles at their neat tray. The soup is ready for the stall.
