The Train Platform
School Readers · Level 13
Eliza and Hugo are going to a sports centre with their teacher. They wait at the station with their tickets. Hugo checks the screen above the platform. Their train is due in ten minutes.

A message appears on the screen. The train will now leave from a different platform. Eliza looks at the stairs between them and the new platform. “I do not know the way across,” she says.

Their teacher asks a station worker for help. The worker points to a lift beside the stairs. They can use it to reach the bridge and cross above the tracks. Hugo checks they still have time.

The group takes the lift and walks over the bridge. Below them, another train passes through the station. Eliza is glad they are using the proper crossing. They take a second lift down to their platform.

Hugo checks the screen again. It shows the right destination for their tickets. Their teacher leads them to a safe waiting place behind the line. Soon their train arrives.

They get on with the rest of the group. “We found the way without rushing,” says Eliza. Hugo puts his ticket in his pocket. “Checking the screen twice helped,” he says. Their trip can begin.
