The Waterfall Treasure
Phase 9 · Book 5Focus advanced spelling review

Grace and Jack follow a trail with Mum. A waterfall tumbles beyond the fence. They find a wooden box on a dry bench. A little lock keeps it shut.

Three picture cards lie beside the box. One shows a boat, one a bird and one a crown. “Which picture will help?” asks Jack. Grace notices a note beneath the cards.

Mum reads the note. “Find what has wings but cannot fly.” Jack points to the bird card. “But a bird can fly,” says Grace.

They look along the safe garden path. A wooden windmill turns beside a cabin. “Its wings turn, but it stays here!” says Grace. Mum leads them to the windmill.

Behind the windmill is a small key on a red ribbon. Jack lifts it from a hook. They return to the bench together. Grace turns the key. Click! The box opens.

Inside are paper crowns and a picnic note. They put on crowns and share Mum’s cake. “We found the waterfall treasure!” says Jack. “And our wings never left the ground,” says Grace.
