Theo’s Wind Dance
Shared Reading Books · Arts · Ages 3–4
The breeze moves the leaves. Theo holds a blue cloth in the garden. “It is dancing,” he says. Mum gives him room.

Theo swings the cloth high. It wraps round his arm. He stops and lets it hang loose. “It needs space,” he says.

Mum stands a little way off. Theo stretches his arm out. He moves slowly from side to side. The cloth follows.

A stronger breeze comes. Theo makes a big turn on the grass. His feet stop, but the cloth keeps moving for a moment.

“Now a tiny wind,” says Mum. Theo bends his knees and makes small waves near the ground. The cloth barely lifts.

“My turn to choose,” says Theo. He stands tall and sways. Mum watches, then copies his slow movement.

They try a dance together. Big turn, little wave, slow sway. Theo changes the order. Mum follows his new dance.

The breeze drops. Theo lets the cloth rest on the grass. He takes a breath. “Our wind is having a rest,” he says.
