Victor’s Bakery Tray
School Readers · Level 6
Victor and Nell help at the school bakery stall. Six cool bread rolls wait in a deep basket.

Victor puts the rolls on a small tray. The last roll rests against the low edge.

He lifts the tray with both hands. One round roll shifts towards the side, so he sets it down.

“They need more space,” says Nell. She finds a wider tray on the clean shelf.

Mrs Heath checks that the new tray is clean and dry. Victor moves the rolls across one at a time.

Now the six rolls lie in one flat layer. None is resting on top of another roll.

Nell carries the empty basket to the stall. Victor holds the wider tray level as he follows.

They set the rolls beside the paper bags. The stall is ready for people to choose their bread.
