Vocabulary

Read these five words from the story. Talk about what they mean.

shade: A place where direct sunlight is blocked.
leans: Tilts to one side.
steady: Firm and not wobbling.
roots: Parts of a plant that usually grow in soil.
sheltered: Protected from weather or strong sun.
