Grace’s Paper Bridge
Shared Reading Books · Science · Ages 3–4Written by Emily Parker · Illustrated by Oliver Bennett

Grace has a toy car. She wants a bridge. Mrs Moss brings two blocks and paper.

They lay the paper across the gap. “Drive over!” says Grace. The car rolls onto it.

The flat paper bends down. The car stops. “Oh!” says Grace.

Mrs Moss lifts the car away. “Can we change the paper?” Grace looks and thinks.

Together, they fold up the sides. Now the paper has a new shape. They put it across the blocks.

Grace gently rolls the car again. This time, the paper holds it. “Over you go!”

They look at the folded sides. “The shape helped our bridge,” says Mrs Moss. Grace points to the folds.

The little car rolls to the other block. “We tried a new way!” says Grace. Then they try again together.
