Jack and the Muddy Boots

Jack and Rose played in the garden. Splash, splash went their boots!

Jack stepped out of the puddle. His green boots were covered in mud.

“I want to go inside,” said Jack. He looked at the muddy marks by the door.

Jack wiped his boots on the grass. Some mud came off, but some stayed on.

Mum came to the door. “Let’s clean your boots together,” she said.

Jack sat on a little stool. Mum brought water and a soft brush.

Mum helped Jack brush the mud off. Brown water dripped into the bucket.

Jack looked at his boots. “They are green again!” he said.

He left his boots by the door. Jack and Rose went inside for a story.
