Vocabulary

Read these five words from the story. Talk about what they mean.

pace: The speed at which someone moves.
maintain: Keep something going at the same level.
contribute: Add something that helps a shared task.
circuit: One complete journey around a route.
reflection: Careful thought about what happened and what can be learned.

Tell the story

Retell the beginning, problem, attempts and ending. Explain a character’s choice using evidence from the story. What can you infer from an action or a line of dialogue? Discuss another possible ending.
